Mildenberg – Berlin – Potsdam
This route goes, via Oranienburg, in the direction of the Spandau lock, on to lake “Grosser Wannsee”, then to Potsdam. http://www.wsa-b.de/wasserstrassen/schleusen/schlspandau/index.html
Already by the end of the 19th century the high society discovered the green suburbs of Berlin as a first-class residential area and began building lordly estates. Status-conscious and well-monied people bought houses befitting their rank in the area around lake Wannsee.
The famous lake “Grosser Wannsee” is located in Berlin’s south-western district Steglitz-Zehlendorf. Here, in the villa quarter, you can find houses beautiful to behold, including the infamous house of the so-called “Wannsee Conference” that took place on 20th January 1942. http://www.museumsportal-berlin.de/de/museen/haus-der-wannsee-konferenz/
